Proposing solutions that
follow market evolutions
Animal production, including pig farming, is continuously evolving. Over the past decades, significant advancements have been made in genetics, housing, and nutrition. At the same time, consumers’ demand forstandard of welfare is increasing, along with cheap animal protein sources and health food. While not all countries have the same needs today, the overall trend toward improved animal welfare is clear and often–though not always–driven by regulations.

To keep testicles or not?
In Europe, for instance, the termination of physical castration without anesthesia is being strongly promoted. It implies that in the near future, most male pigs will either be immuno-castrated or kept entire. None of these choices is perfect, and the preferred approach largely depends on the historical production methods in each country (*). However, the way these entire males will respond to the supply of functional gut health feed ingredients can be logically questioned.
New practices, comparable objectives
It is certainly desirable that pig production evolves step-by-step for the benefit of animals, humans, and planet Earth. However, it does not imply any change to the main production objectives of farmers. Agrimprove experts work every day to ensure that the application of our solutions keeps improving relevant physiological and technical parameters such as digestive health, weight gain (ADG) and feed efficiency (FCR) of weaned and fattening pigs to a comparable extent, irrespective of those animals being castrated, entire males, or females.

The findings of our developments were successfully presented at the JRP (Journée de la Recherche Porcine) in France in 2025. Our research highlights how feed enhanced with MCFAs support different types of male pigs, ensuring optimal health, growth, and feed efficiency. By sharing these insights, we contribute to the advancement of sustainable and welfare-conscious swine production.
